Ankara Consular Section Closed: April 21 -April 29
The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy will be closed for appointments from April 21 to April 29 due to construction. Only very limited services will be provided. U.S. citizens who require emergency services such as assistance with the death, arrest, illness, abduction in process, or injury of a U.S. citizen can call 0-312-455-5555.
Routine services such as passport renewals, reports of birth abroad, and notarials are not considered emergencies and will be processed by online appointments starting the week of May 2.
Applicants (including U.S. Citizens) are not able to bring in purses, cell phones or any other electronic devices into the Embassy. Applicants will be turned away since there is no storage for electronic devices available.

All customers are required to make an appointment for routine American Citizen Services. Routine services include: Passport Applications, Reports of Birth Abroad, Notarial Services, or for other American Citizen Services Unit related inquiries. In order to provide more effective customer service, you must make an appointment before visiting our American Citizen Services Unit. Our appointment system allows our customers to plan their visit in advance, ensure shorter wait times, and allow more efficient handling of individual cases.
What to bring:
Please be sure to print your confirmation page and bring it with you to your appointment. Also please be sure you have completed the required paperwork and bring it with you to your appointment. The tabs on the left will direct you to the necessary forms. After you schedule your online appointment, you will receive an email containing instructions and documentation requirements.
To apply for American Citizen Services such as U.S. passports, birth reports, and notarial services (only for use in the U.S.) in Izmir, please email Izmir Consular Agency to schedule an appointment. We will not respond to queries about Immigrant and Nonimmigrant visas.
Updated information on Boat Notarials
The U.S. Embassy, Consulates and Consular Agent can provide notarial services related to yachts, boats and other water craft only if the agent provides correspondence from the U.S. Coast Guard Office of Commercial Vessel Compliance (CG-CVC) stating that notarizing such a certification of the requested document is appropriate.
