Ambassador's remarks and public events
January 22, 2007
To the Agos Staff:
The murder of Hrant Dink is a tragedy for us all. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family, to his friends, and to all of you at Agos who knew Hrant and worked so closely with him. Turkey has lost a son and a patriot.
It is always difficult to comprehend such a senseless act of violence. But out of this tragic loss comes the possibility of moving toward reconciliation by building on mutual understanding and constructive, free debate for which Hrant Dink stood. This time of sorrow, when we will all remember and memorialize a courageous man, is also a time to look to his life as an inspiration and to work together with renewed determination to make his vision a reality.
Sincerely,
Ross Wilson
