Ambassador Jeffrey Visits Maltepe Mosque

Ambassador James F. Jeffrey visited Ankara’s Maltepe Mosque on January 29, 2009. Maltepe Mosque’s Imam Mustafa Demir and the Cankaya Mufti welcomed the Ambassador and his team to the Mosque and briefed them on the history of the Mosque. They conversed about the education of clergymen and muftis in Turkey and the upcoming visit to the US of seven imams, including Mr. Demir, as part of an inter-faith dialogue program between the two countries. At the end of the prayers, Imam Demir introduced the Ambassador to the congregation. The Ambassador spoke with several members of the congregation and relayed to the imam and the worshipers President Obama’s message of dialogue with Muslims around the world.
