From MLK to Obama: Distinguished Harvard Professor Discusses the US Civil Rights Movement with Turkish Activists

In a digital video conference hosted by Ambassador Jeffrey at his residence, Professor Randall Kennedy of the Harvard Law School discussed the U.S. civil rights movement with Turkish government officials, NGO representatives, and journalists. Professor Kennedy described the slow but steady progress of the past 50 years and reviewed the current state of civil rights in the U.S. During the discussion that followed his remarks, Professor Kennedy commented on the recent electoral victory of President-Elect Barack Obama, noting that it will likely have a positive impact on U.S. society and culture.
