International Visitor Leadership Program
The International Visitor Leadership Program annually brings to the United States approximately 5,000 foreign nationals from all over the world to meet and confer with their professional counterparts and to experience America firsthand. The visitors, who are selected by American Foreign Service Officers overseas, are current or potential leaders in government, politics, the media, education, the arts, business and other fields.

Fulbright Program
The flagship international exchange program sponsored by the United States Government, the Fulbright Program is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.  It promotes leadership development through learning and international cooperation.  The Fulbright Program operates in more than 155 countries and has provided over 285,000 participants — chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research in each others' countries and exchange ideas.  Approximately 7,000 grants are awarded annually.

Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship
Founded in 1978 in honor of the late Senator and Vice President, the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings to the United States accomplished mid-level professionals from designated countries that have a wide range of development needs.

Community College Initiatives
The Community College Summit Initiative Program (Summit program) is an outgrowth of the U.S. University Presidents Summit on International Education, co-hosted by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings in January 2006. The Summit Initiative Program provides funding to support international students from selected countries to study at U.S. community colleges. Currently, students from Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, South Africa and Turkey are eligible to participate and are recruited by Fulbright Commissions and U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Offices in these countries.

Turkish Student Teacher Internship Project
The Turkish Student Teacher Internship Project provides training for thirty to forty Turkish graduate students of education on an eight-week U.S.-based program.  Internships take place in high schools near the U.S. host university, and site visits introduce the Turkish participants to diverse schools in various parts of the country, while giving the student teachers an opportunity to share their culture with American audiences. The participants learn about student-centered teaching methods and the use of technology in teaching, gain practical experience through teaching internships with mentor teachers, and attend professional development seminars on pedagogical topics. The program offers school site visits, teaching internships with mentoring, weekly on-campus seminars, curriculum development projects, opportunities to observe local school governance in action, and evaluation and debriefing sessions. This program is administered by Iowa State University.

Sports Management
The Exchange on Sports Management provides a multinational group of 18-20 undergraduates with a course on the major topics in sports management, including marketing sports properties; sponsorship alliances; athlete, owner and fan relations; contractual negotiations; media licensing and other forms of licensing; women's sports development; and the economic and legal aspects of sports management. Bureau-designated participating countries for this program include: Indonesia, Nigeria, Russia, Turkey, Venezuela, and the United States of America.

Global Student Leaders
Global Student Leader Institutes are hosted by a consortia of universities and colleges under the administration of The Academy for Educational Development

YES - Youth Exchange and Study Program
Building Bridges of Understanding

Since 2003, over 2000 young people from countries such as Lebanon, Afghanistan, Turkey, Nigeria, and Indonesia have come to the US to live as a “son” or “daughter” in an American family and attend high school for an academic year or semester. YES students share their host families’ everyday lives, engage in school activities and volunteer in their communities. They learn about American society and values while helping to educate others about the customs and culture of their homelands.
