Fulbright professor George Gawrych lectured on "Ataturk and the War of Independence" at the Turkish-American Association (TAA) on February 11 before an audience of about 80 TAA members and friends.  Dr. Gawrych's lecture, which focused on Ataturk's larger political vision as he pursued strategic objectives in the war of independence, was well received and provoked a lively question-and-answer session.  Dr. George Gawrych, an associate professor at Baylor University in Texas, is currently in Ankara Turkey as a Senior Fulbright Researcher associated with Bilkent University. He is conducting research in the archives, libraries, and institutes of Turkey for a book on Ataturk and the Turkish War of Independence.
