U.S. Rushes Humanitarian Aid for Van Earthquake Victims
November 4, 2011 - November 4, 2011 - From October 29-31, five American military cargo planes carried humanitarian aid material for the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck the eastern province of Van on October 23. The U.S. has made a cash donation of USD 200,000 to the Turkish Red Crescent (Kizilay), and dispatched USD 1 million of aid material to Erzurum to be transferred to the earthquake victims in Van.

Ricciardone Presents Awards to Young Entrepreneurs
April 27, 2011 - Student “entrepreneurs” from 12 cities and 36 schools across Turkey gathered in Ankara to show case their innovative business projects and compete for a trip to the US, as part of an entrepreneurial project sponsored by the US Embassy. The “Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Product Fair,” among high school students, was held at the TED Ankara.

Hip Hop Performer Gina Loring in Trabzon with University Students
March 12, 2011 - Gina Loring, a hip hop performer and creative writing teacher, spent this past weekend in Trabzon working with students from Karadeniz Technical University. Prior to their Saturday evening performance, approximately thirty students participated in a two day creative writing workshop. They wrote poems and haikus and then put them to music.

Ambassador Ricciardone Presents His Credentials
January 28, 2011 - Francis J. Ricciardone, the new U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, presented his credentials to President Abdullah Gul on January 28. Ambassador Ricciardone was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Marie Ricciardone, and U.S. Embassy officials to the ceremony at the Presidency.
