Announcement: Iranian Student Visa Applicants (F/M/J) may return to submit passports after they have received notification that their administrative processing is complete:  The NIV Unit will accept passports for completed administrative processing any afternoon, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (except Turkish and American holidays) between 2:00PM and 2:30PM, from July 8  to October 2.  The NIV Unit will resume its regular hours for this service every Thursday 2:00-2:30PM thereafter, beginning with October 9.

The New Administrative Processing System

We have implemented a new system  for applicants who require administrative processing.  Please see instructions below for details.

You can check the status of your case by following these 2 steps:

  1. Find your DS-160 confirmation barcode (example: AA0025B45T) on your DS-160 confirmation page.
  2. Check your Case Status

When Your Administrative Processing is Complete

Iranian Visa Applicants
When their administrative processing is complete, Iranian applicants should come to the Embassy on any Thursday between 14:00 and 14:30 before the expiration date of their administrative process. Before they come to the Embassy, each Iranian visa applicant applying for a visa must visit http://www.usvisa-info.com or call 0850 252 6355 from Turkey or (703) 439-2348 from the U.S. to select a passport pickup location. They need to submit a copy of this receipt along with their passports and any other required documents when they come to the Consular Section of the Embassy. Turkish Citizens and Residents in Turkey
When their administrative processing is complete, applicants must send their passports to the American Embassy Ankara, Nonimmigrant Visa Unit via Turkish Post (PTT). Please visit  http://www.usvisa-info.com or call 0850 252 6355 from Turkey or (703) 439-2348 from the U.S. to send your documents and select a passport pickup location.  Please make sure to attach the “Passport Pickup Registration Receipts” for each family member. Please send a copy of this receipt along with your passport and any other required documents to the Embassy, Nonimmigrant Visa Unit. You may visit: http://ankaraniv.net/ to check your number.

Please note that it usually takes at least 3-5 business days before you can pick-up your passport from your selected PTT (Turkish Post) location.
