OPDAT
The U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) established a Resident Legal Advisor (RLA) program in Turkey in 2006. The RLA is stationed at the US Embassy in Ankara and works to ensure a continued collaborative and cooperative relationship between the governments of the United States and Turkey, particularly as it relates to matters of terrorism and terrorism financing. The RLA works with local prosecutors and other law enforcement personnel, and assists in developing trainings appropriate for the shared efforts of the United States and Turkey. Past training programs have focused on money laundering, cyber crimes, extradition, and criminal pre-trial resolution.
