Condolences Following the Aircraft Crash in Baghdad

Ankara, January 10, 2007 

We were deeply saddened to learn of yesterday’s tragic crash of a cargo plane carrying Turkish workers to Iraq to support the Coalition effort to rebuild that country.  The efforts of these and many other Turkish citizens as well as that of the Government of Turkey have been critical to furthering stability, security and democracy in Iraq.  We wish to express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the Turkish nation.
