Ankara, January 20, 2006.

The United States and Turkey will hold the next meeting of the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) Council in Ankara on January 23 – 24, 2006.  Delegations from the two countries will meet to discuss ways to reduce impediments to bilateral trade as envisioned in the 1999 US-Turkey Trade and Investment Framework Agreement.  The meeting will also give American and Turkish business leaders in Turkey an opportunity to meet with the delegations to discuss their views and ideas about increasing the level of bilateral trade. Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Shaun Donnelly will lead the US delegation to the talks.
