U.S. Embassy Statement

Ankara, April 22, 2005

Ankara, April 22, 2005. A front-page story in today’s “Hürriyet” claims to include the text of an “agreement” reached by Turkey and the United States following “10 months of negotiations between Turkish and US diplomats and military officials.” The article accurately describes the longstanding US request to establish a logistics hub at Incirlik. However, as of now there is no agreement between the two countries concerning the US request, nor have there been negotiations on this issue.
