Statement About Comments Attributed to US Diplomat

June 2, 2005. A column in today’s “Hürriyet” featured comments attributed to a US diplomat concerning recent legislation passed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. These comments do not reflect official US policy. The particular legislation mentioned in the column is a matter to be addressed through Turkey’s vibrant democratic process.
