Re-scheduling of U.S. Non-Immigrant Visa Appointments and Routine American Citizen Services due to Lebanon Evacuation

Ankara, July 21, 2006

Urgent requirements relating to the evacuation of American Citizens from Lebanon have necessitated the rescheduling of Non-Immigrant Visa appointments at the US Embassy in Ankara and the US Consulate General in Istanbul.

Appointments scheduled between Monday, July 24 and Friday, July 28 are cancelled.

Existing appointments between July 31 and August 4 will remain as scheduled for the time being.  No new appointments will be accepted during this period.

From Monday, August 7, it is expected that normal Non-Immigrant visa appointments will be available mornings Mondays through Thursdays.  Those whose appointments have been cancelled should reschedule their appointments through the Consulate call center at (212) 340-4444.

A very limited number of appointments will be available for truly urgent and essential medical or business travel, and these can be access through the same call center number.

The Embassy and the Consulate remain open for American Citizen Services.  However, we request that routine matters be postponed at least until after Friday, July 28.
