US Congressional Resolution Thanking Turkey for Assistance in Providing Safe Passage from Lebanon Introduced

With Turkey’s Help Over 1600 Americans and their Family Members Safely Arrived Home

Ankara, August 2, 2006 

A resolution expressing “deepest gratitude” to the Turkish Government and the Turkish people for assistance and cooperation with the evacuation of Americans from Lebanon was introduced into the US House of Representatives by Florida Congress member Alcee Hastings on July 28, 2006.

The resolution calls the Turkish support “an expression of our deep and strong alliance” and goes on to recognize the “responsible role the Turkish government is playing in efforts to stabilize the Middle East.”
