Export Control and related Border Security and Nonproliferation Symposium

The U.S. Department of State and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs will co-host a two-day seminar September 17-18 on Export Control and related Border Security (EXBS) and Nonproliferation. The event will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara and US Ambassador Ross Wilson will give opening remarks. Following the conclusion of the bilateral Nonproliferation Agreement in June this year, the seminar will bring together U.S. and Turkish officials with nonproliferation responsibilities to exchange information and explore ways to work together to combat the proliferation threat, which is one of the biggest global challenges of the 21st century and one of many areas in which the U.S. and Turkey have shared goals and enjoy close cooperation.
The seminar will include U.S. representatives from the Department of State, Department of Energy, Department of Commerce, Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security, and Turkish representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Under secretariat of Foreign Trade, Under secretariat of Customs, Turkish Atomic Energy Authority, Turkish National Police, Turkish General Staff, and other representatives with nonproliferation responsibilities.
