Embassy Press Statement

Ankara, September 30, 2005. 

A column that appeared in “The Washington Times” on September 27 contained highly inflammatory language concerning Turkey and the Turkish Government.  The author of the column was expressing his own views, which do not in any way reflect the views of the United States Government.  We view Turkey as an important friend, a strategic partner, and a strong ally.  As recently stated by National Security Advisor Hadley, the United States Government wants to see Turkey as a full member of a Europe that is whole, free, and at peace.
