PKK Terrorism Designation Unchanged

Ankara, November 30, 2006 

The US Government is currently considering what steps to take next with respect to the recent ruling by a US District Court in California regarding terrorism financing.  We wish to clarify that the PKK remains a designated terrorist organization, and US legal restrictions on the provision of support to the PKK continue to apply.

The US will continue to work with Turkey and its other global counterterrorism partners to deny support to groups that commit acts of terrorism -- whether the PKK or any other terrorist organization -- and to ensure that the criminals who commit acts of terrorism can be brought to justice.
