Ambassador Ross Wilson Condolence Message On the Death of Professor Stanford J. Shaw

Ankara, December 18, 2006.

I was profoundly saddened to learn that Professor Stanford J. Shaw had passed away. Stanford was a great academic leader and a major figure in the US-Turkish partnership. His academic work strengthened our understanding of the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey, while his ideas and commitment will live on through the generations of students he educated in America and Turkey. I want to extend my deepest condolences to Professor Stanford Shaw's family, friends, and colleagues.
