This session demonstrated the group-work technique of using literature circles to deepen student understanding of literary texts. The benefits of this approach, in addition to general effective practices for group work interactions were highlighted, and participants practiced the roles of literature circle using a short story.

In the Drama Activities workshop a practical range of teaching strategies from warm-up games to Theater Sports, Readers Theater, script dramatizations and text studies using Hot Seat and Conscience Alley were presented. The benefits of Drama as constructivist learning, an overview of the learning styles engaged by Drama as well as a brief history of the background of Drama as a teaching tool were also discussed.
