Dr. Carter's visit also provided an opportunity to reaffirm America's strong commitment to Turkey as an ally in confronting international terrorism in the wake of last Friday's incident at the U.S. Embassy.

    11 year old Abed recently lost his leg in a missile attack in Syria. Abed was accompanied by his nineteen year old brother Omar, who had carried Abed out of Syria across the border to the safety of Turkey after the attack. The brothers' parents and seven sisters remain in Syria.
