The Durham, North Carolina-based group is sponsored by The Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad, a program produced by Jazz at Lincoln Center and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The students are studying in fields varying from political science to sports to fine arts and asked President Obama about a range of subjects including climate change, Turkey’s EU bid, and peace in the Middle East.
