Izmir Consular Agency Opening

The American Embassy is pleased to announce the opening of the Consular Agency in Izmir on August 1, 2005. The Consular Agent, Ms. Guliz Balsari, will be able to accept applications for United States passports, accept applications for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, notarize documents, and assist in case of the illness, arrest, disappearance, or death of an American citizen. The Consular Agency in Izmir covers regions of Aydin, Denizli, Izmir, Manisa, Mugla, and Usak.

Visa services, including forms and information, are not available at the Consular Agency. Information and visa application forms are available on the Embassy website at Ankara.usembassy.gov. Visa applicants should continue calling 212-340-4444 to receive information and schedule an appointment for a visa interview in Ankara or Istanbul.

The Consular Agency will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays by appointments only for routine services such as passport applications and notarials. Passport applicants will be forwarded to Ankara for final processing so passport applicants should allow 15-25 days for processing.

For appointments please call (232) 464-8755 between 09:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays. The Agency is closed to the public on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as well as on American and Turkish public holidays.

The Deputy Consul from the Embassy in Ankara will be in Izmir from August 8 to August 19 and the Consular Agency will be open to the public Monday through Friday during these dates. Services during this visit will also be by appointment only.
