WARDEN INFORMATION

Embassy Ankara Warden Message 26

November 17, 2006

U.S. citizens in Turkey are advised to increase their security awareness. The U.S. Mission in Turkey is in a heightened threat environment and has taken measures to enhance its security posture.

As noted in previous warden messages, U.S. citizens should make it a habit to exercise caution and keep a low profile. Americans may wish to minimize their time spent at facilities and establishments where U.S. citizens and other foreigners tend to congregate or visit.

For the latest security information, Americans living and traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs Internet website at http://travel.state.gov, where the current Worldwide Cautions, Public Announcements, and Travel Warnings can be found.
